Hi guys,

another sleepless night here and found a couple articles for you after following Avezza's tip in shoutbox:
SOE suspended
Stolen information

Here's a couple of interesting quotes from the last article:

In a message to its customers, Sony said: "We had previously believed that SOE customer data had not been obtained in the cyber-attacks on the company."

However, it added that "on 1 May we concluded that SOE account information may have been stolen".

According to Sony, the information taken included names, addresses and passwords, as well as the numbers of the credit and debit cards, their expiry dates and security numbers.

However, Sony added that the information was encrypted.

Spokeswoman Taina Rodriguez was quoted by AP as saying that there was no evidence as yet that the stolen information had been used for illicit financial gain.


For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email, telephone, and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive information. Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email, asking for your credit card number, social security number or other personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information, you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When SOE's services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your Station or SOE game account name or password for other unrelated services or accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them, as well.

To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and to monitor your credit reports.

I think you should all keep close eye on your credit cards and be patient with Sony to fix the issue. Considering that the Playstation Network has been down since April 20th, we may have to endure a few days without the game. Please post here if you see any further news.

Cancelled my credit cards so I won't be online for a few days till my new ones arrive

Also just as a precaution will be changing my user names and passwords

Anonymous sucks I don't see what they are trying to acheived only to P*** off customers like us

I dont think it was that hacker group Anonymous. From what I understand, they stop people from accessing the company web site or server, so the company looses money. Ive seen a report where even Sony said it wasn't them, and 2 others from Anonymous saying they didn't do it. Either way, we still cant play EQ LOL. So will be more Borderlands or Fallout New Vegas for me hahaha.

Dont give them any information Avezza if they asking for any, but I assume you know that.

Just hope that nothing malicious happens.

As Ry says, if they ask for any info - it's not likely to be SOE.

However I can say that IF you are amongst the people whose info they got from 2007, SOE will send you a mail to confirm. Hal got a mail, so he was amongst them while I haven't recieved anything. We were both costumers in 2007.

How is SOE planning to notify customers whose data may have been stolen?

We are sending out customer service notification emails to the email addresses we have on file for the accounts that were affected. These emails will be sent by Innovyx, our third party email distributor, and will contain either '' or '' in the sender field.

I also got a mail from SoE today - dated on 3rd may, sent the 5th...
Of course, they had to take 2 extra days to translate it into danish... shrug.

Anyway, as I read it, its more or less what they posted in their press releases, "your info may have been compromised" - so if they did get hold of my details, SoE aren't very direct about it... Did anyone who actually got affected get a more direct mail concerning this?

Anywho... only details that still is valid, should be my phonenumber and account name.. Bank account, credit card, adress and passwords have all been changed more than once since 2007, so not all that scared - just a bit disappointed at SoE for being so god damn slow in this matter... My computer can't handle many other games than EQ2 atm... luckily I will have a brand new computer assembled on saturday, and if the RAM gets here tomorrow, I should be ready to enjoy other games (looking forward to playing a Civ V game that doesn't crash in the middle of it all - even tho my experience so far when I've played, has been that Civ IV is better ;))

Yeah, I've been using that one too. Seems such a jungle keeping up with SOE official messages via twitter, facebook and whatever else random medias they use to convey information - it's easier to let the busybodies on flames do the job for me ;)

In light of the recent outage of Sony Online Entertainment's game services due to April's cyber-attack, we are committed to compensating our loyal player base for the inconvenience caused by the data breach and lost game time while we improve our security measures.

We are currently in the process of an extensive upgrade to our network to further protect your information from future attacks. It will likely be at least a few more days before we restore our services, and when we come back online, here is what you can expect for each of our game services.

First and foremost, all impacted players will receive 30 days of game time added to the end of the current billing cycle in addition to one day for each day the system is down. Additionally, many games are offering a variety of in-game items and special events to welcome players back once our services resume (per the outline below). This is true for both PC and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system based products.
